Scanned at 1200 dpi. Area shown is 16 mm by 12 mm. The concept illustrated by this image is "sepal tips in bud free and subterminal." The only other desert species of Camissonia that has sepal tips in bud free and subterminal is C. claviformis ssp. claviformis and ssp. peirsonii. However that species and subspecies tend to open at dusk, rather than mid-day.
