Erigeron divergens Torr. & A. Gray.  Spreading Fleabane.

Dispersed Camp Site, Jefferson County, Colorado. Along Pike-San Isabel National Forest Road 211, about 3.6 miles generally southwest of its northern end at County Road 126 “Deckers Road,” 59 km. south of Golden. 39.22634°N, 105.3064°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2323 m. Thin ponderosa pine forest with Heterotheca villosa, Hymenothrix dissecta, Solidago missouriensis, Symphyotrichum porteri, Townsendia grandiflora, Castilleja integra, Eriocoma nelsonii, and Vulpia octoflora.

No. 3381, 12 September 2024, characters observed: Annual or short-lived perennial, 25 cm., caudex taprooted, without leafy runners of rhizomes; Stem, pubescent-hispidulous (short rough hairs generally curved in all directions); Leaves, basal and proximal cauline withered, alternate, sessile, blade 17 mm. × 1.6 mm. wide, linear-oblong, entire; Involucre, 5 mm.; Phyllaries, 2+ series, 3.5 mm. × 0.5 mm. wide, ±green, with purple tips; Receptacle, epaleate; Flowers, 2 kinds; Rays, many, tube 1 mm. + blade 6 mm. × 0.5 mm. wide, spreading, lavender, fertile; Disc flowers, many, tube 2 mm. + lobes 0.3 mm., yellow; Pappus, scales, #8±, capillary bristles, #6-8, 1.5-1.8 mm.; Cypsela, 0.8 mm. × 0.3 mm. wide, 4-angled, tan-ish, few appressed hairs.
