Coll. No. 3357, 26 July 2024, characters observed: Perennial herb, 25 cm., caudex unknown; Stem, purple, hirsute, short and long hairs; Leaves, basal, none seen, cauline, alternate, sessile, 22 mm. × 5.5 mm. wide, slightly reduced distally, oblong, entire, single nerve (definitely not tri-nerved), glandular, tips, spine-tipped; Inflorescence, 2-3 heads per stem, not showy, >leaves, erect; Involucre, 10 mm. × 13 mm. wide; Phyllaries, 3± series, 7 mm. × 1 mm. wide, lower < rest of involucre, green, tips purple; Receptacle, epaleate; Ray flowers, none seen, probably eaten by insects before collection was made; Disk flowers, many, tube 6 mm. + lobes 0.7 mm., yellow; Pappus, many, well-developed capillary bristles, 6 mm., ±equal; Cypsela, 2 mm. × __ mm. wide, ascending long hairy.
