No. 845, 21 Jun 2013, characters observed while keying: Herbaceous perennial, aquatic but not submersed; Leaves, true leaves, not scale- or needle-like, sheath open, veination parallel, multiple veins, blade flattened, iris-like, oriented edge toward stem, glabrous; Inflorescence 4-14 clusters of flowers; Bract exceeding only lowest flower cluster, not cylindric; Clusters <= 10 mm.; Flowers present, bisexual; Perianth in 2 whorls of 3, sepals and petals, very similar, all brown; Anther 1.2 mm., > filament; Ovary superior; Pistil 1; Style 1, 1.0 mm.; Stigmas 3; Fruit [ gradually | abruptly ] tapered toward beak.
