No. 706, 15 Nov 2011, characters observed while keying: Perennial woody below; Stems some sharp-pointed, 2nd+ year stems pubesence interrupted by linear glabrescent streaks (Sect. Tetradymia, incl. stenolepis, canescens, and glabrata); Leaves gray tomentose (not green glabrous), not spiny; Phyllaries 4, in one equal series, not scarious or transparent, tips not black; Flowers not ligulate, yellow; Achenes glabrous, with a pappus of bristles.
