No, 2735, 1 Sep 2021, characters observed: Perennial herb, to 50 cm., rhizomatous; Stem, spreading hispid, to glandular in inflorescence; Leaves, basal, withered, cauline, sessile, blade 95 mm. × 27 mm. wide, reduced distally, 3-nerved, hispid proximally thinning distally, entire to distally serrate, ciliate; Inflorescence, >leaves, paniculiform arrays, heads many per stem; Peduncles, 1.5-3.0 mm.; Involucre, 4.0-4.5 mm. × 2.3-3.0 mm. wide, campanulate; Phyllaries, 4 graduated series, largest (inner) 4 mm. × 1 mm. wide, chartaceous base to greenish distally, margin more fringed than ciliate; Receptacle, epaleate; Flowers, of 2 kinds; Rays, #7, tube 2.4 mm. + blade 2.4 mm. × 0.6 mm. wide, yellow, sterile(?); Disk flowers, #6, tube 1 mm. + throat 2 mm. + lobes (large!) 1 mm. = 4 mm., throat expanding gradually, tube green to throat and lobes yellow; Pappus, many, well-developed bristles, ±equal disk corollas, 3.5-4.0 mm.; Style, 2-branched, ±brush-like appendages; Stigma, 0.6-0.7 mm., >style appendages (0.5 mm.); Cypsela, 1.2 mm., tan hairy; Directed away from Sect. Nemorales because basal leaves are withered at flowering, and because the distal cauline leaves are gradually reduced while remaining similar to mid-cauline leaves. Corollas & pappi more in range of S. velutina than S. mollis. Compare to Loraine Yeatts #818 1983-0829, from South Table Mountain (BRYV0278879, KHD00009873).
