Erigeron speciosus (Lindl.) DC.  Aspen Fleabane.

Lippincott Ranch (North), Boulder County, Colorado. Northern part of ranch, north-facing slope overlooking Spring Brook. 2.2 km. north of the main gate, 23.8 km. north northwest of the GNIS location of Golden. 39.9139°N, 105.2785°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2045 m. Deep grasses in openings of ponderosa pine woodland. Lippincott Ranch is jointly owned by City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and Jefferson County Open Space.

Coll. No. 2612, 29 July 2021, characters observed: Perennial herb, to 75 cm., rhizomatous; Stem, glabrous, purple at base; Leaves, basal, absent, lower cauline, petiole 25 mm. + blade 45 mm. × 6 mm. wide, upper cauline, sessile, 42 mm. × 7.5 mm. wide, lanceolate, gradually reduced, margins, entire, ciliate; Involucre, 5 mm. × 13 mm. wide, base glandular; Phyllaries, 3± series, 4-5 mm. × 0.5 mm. wide, outer ±= inner, outer green, inner yellow-tan, curved distally, finely glandular; Receptacle, epaleate; Flowers, of 2 kinds; Ray flowers, many, tube 2 mm. + blade 10 mm. × 0.5 mm. wide, lavender; Disk flowers, many, tube 3.3 mm. + lobes 0.5 mm., yellow; Pappus, two series, short and long, long, 2 mm.; Cypsela, 1.3 mm. hairy.
