Proclaimed Bryce Canyon National Monument in 1923, Created Bryce Canyon National Park in 1924 (UT-T60). Named for William Bryce, who operated a sawmill and cut timberalong the Canyon Rim (UT-T56). Two other sources say it was named for Ebenezer Bryce who built a cabin at the mouth of thecanyon in 1876.
