The original discovery site of some of the best known dinosaurs and is the first place that dinosaur bones were ever found in North America. Location is on the state register of historic places.

Sometimes this ridge is called “Dakota Ridge.” Even the trail on this ridge is called the “Dakota Ridge Trail.” However, the Bureau of Geographic Names (BGN) does not accept that name for the ridge, and applies the name “Dinosaur Ridge” instead. The “Dakota” name is probably applied from the group name of the formations that make up the higback.

Elevation: 6657ft, 2029m.
