Low mountains, highest elevation 805 meters, in southeastern California. Just west of Blythe, north of US I-10. The McCoy Mountains are composed of the McCoy Mountains Formation, > 7 km of fluvial sediments, representing a retroarc foreland basin, deposited behind the active evolving Cretaceous Cordilleran continental margin magmatic arc that lay to the west and in the foreland of the actively deforming Cretaceous Maria fold-and-thrust belt (Barth, Andrew P., et al, 2004).
