Query: G.N.I.S.

Renamed by the National Park Service (NPS) for Uncle Jim Owens whose BuffaloPasture embraced the territory centering on this point in the early days. Owens was a pioneer settler and a famous lion hunter. The prior name, 'Natchi Point', referring to a sign in a Hopi Indian snake dance, was confused with 'Naji Point' on the North Rim and therefore replaced.
