|Eastern Mojave Vegetation||Elder Creek, Tehama County, California.|
Creek draining east from the Northern Coast Ranges to the Sacramento River near Gerber. A remnant of the Coast Range Ophiolite (CRO) crops out along the north, middle, and south forks of Elder Creek. The Elder Creek portion of the CRO preserves most of the features of a "true" ophiolite. The Elder Creek outcrop is thought to be oceanic crust, in contrast to the Stonyford outcrop that is thought to be a seamount.
